About The Position

This Finaler position is primarily responsible for installing components onto products in the final department. The role involves receiving and checking the priority list for products to be assembled daily, locating and compiling parts, and manually transporting parts up to 40 pounds with repetitive overhead work. Responsibilities include assembling panel boxes for compactor products, installing various electrical components, power packs, and hydraulic cylinders. The job also requires operating welding equipment, visually observing welds and cutting for quality, preparing daily production tally sheets, and observing all safety regulations. A working knowledge of PLCs and computer systems for looking up prints and schematics is necessary. Attendance and potential overtime are required. The role may also involve assisting with cleaner duties, serving as backup for the Power Pack Assembler, driving company vehicles, operating a forklift, cutting and crimping hydraulic hoses, and maintaining a clean work area. Willingness to be trained and assist in the department's operation in the absence of lead personnel is also expected. Other various duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School diploma or GED.
  • Requires ability to understand general arithmetic.
  • Ability to write in an understandable manner.
  • Understand verbal or written instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, billing materials, parts lists and hydraulic patterns.
  • Knowledge normally acquired through high school plus course study or equivalent experience.
  • Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery and equipment.
  • Requires walking/standing approximately 80%, sitting approximately 20% and lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 30% of time.
  • Involves repetitive overhead work approximately 15% of time.
  • Involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 80% of time.
  • Requires use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting.
  • Use of hands and arms to operate welding equipment, hand grinder, hand drill, drill press, hand pallet jack, general hand tools and to record written information.
  • Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.
  • Ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety.
  • Color perception necessary.
  • Depth perception required.
  • Exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and checks priority list from Final/Dock Supervisor for products to be assembled daily.
  • Locates and compiles parts necessary for compactor assemblies.
  • Assembles panel boxes for compactor products.
  • Installs relays, timers, starters, transformers, conduits, electrical wiring in fittings.
  • Installs power packs, panel boxes and hydraulic cylinders onto compactor products.
  • Assembles electrical wiring and fittings.
  • Assembles wires for motors, solenoids, pressure and limit switches for compactors.
  • Operates welding equipment to attach braces, stands and actuators onto compactors.
  • Visually observes welds and cutting of components for quality.
  • Prepares daily production tally sheets and submits to Final/Dock Supervisor.
  • Observes all safety regulations and reports any unsafe working conditions to Final/Dock Supervisor.
  • Checks KanBan cards and parts daily.
  • Notifies lead person or supervisor so parts can be ordered on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to use hand held programmer to program PLC’s for use in Final.
  • Requires computer knowledge in order to be able to look up prints and schematics on AS-400 computer system.
  • Assists with performing Cleaner’s duties, as necessary.
  • Have thorough knowledge of Power Pack Assembler job, and be able to serve as back up as needed.
  • Drives company vehicles to filed service locations and to vendor location to pick up parts.
  • Operates forklift for transporting parts to and from Final Department, as necessary.
  • Cuts and crimps hydraulic hoses for compactors.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area, equipment and tools.
  • Willingness to be trained (to learn) the assembly process, and to assist in running of Department in absence of Lead man or Supervisor.
  • Performs other various duties as may be assigned.
