About The Position

The Final Inspector is responsible for inspecting cloth according to specified standards, flagging seams/splices, and cutting defects as required to make first quality rolls of fabric. This role involves winding straight rolls without telescoping, doffing full tubes and properly identifying them with tickets, and running additional tickets as necessary. For second quality rolls, the inspector cuts out a 1-yard full-width example of the defect for the daily quality meeting and flags the roll to identify it as second quality. The inspector also obtains a swatch for the lab from every lot of fabric if not marked as “Testing Complete.” Maintaining good housekeeping in the work area, following all safety procedures and policies, and advising supervision of any unsafe conditions are also key responsibilities. The role may include any other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

General knowledge of inspection.
Proficiency in the operation and proper use of inspection frame, scissors, yardage meter, hoist sewing machine, air hose, production tickets, printed barcode labels, tape measure, doff table, pens, brooms, masking, two-way and colored tapes.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong team player.
Commitment to company values.
Must have a driver's license.

Responsibilities

Tie in new roll of cloth as needed.
Pull standards or production swatch to use in grading and to insure correct identification and shade as necessary.
Return standards or production swatch to proper location after use.
Inspects cloth according to specified standards, flagging seams/splices, and cutting defects as required to make first quality rolls of fabric.
Wind straight rolls without telescoping.
Doff full tube and properly identify with ticket.
Run additional tickets as necessary.
On second quality rolls, cut out 1 yard full width example of defect for daily quality meeting.
Flag for customer to identify as second quality.
Obtain swatch for lab from every lot of fabric, if not marked as “Testing Complete.”
Maintain good housekeeping in work area.
Follow all safety procedures and policies and advise supervision of any unsafe conditions.
Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor.
