About The Position

We are seeking a Filter Press Operator to join our team at our Merit Steel location in Kouts, Indiana. This role will be responsible for operating and maintaining a filter press that separates and removes impurities from our industrial process.

Requirements

• Must be organized and able to multi-task.
• Must exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Committed to following established procedures to eliminate preventable mistakes and maintain high standards.
• At least one-year operating machinery in a manufacturing environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for start up and shut down of filter press system.
• Responsible for monitoring and operating sulfate and recovery tanks.
• Operate and maintain pumps.
• Promptly acknowledge, assess, and react to system/process alarms to ensure safety and continuity.
• Responsible for maintaining equipment, including cleaning the refrigeration coil, de-sludge, refill and charge acid tubs.
• Calibrate pH meters and log readings.
• Clean filter press and designated work areas.
• Perform all tasks assigned by Supervisor, prioritizing safety above all else.
