About The Position

Reporting to the R&D Team Leader, the role of the laboratory technician is to support the R&D team in various tasks including prototype formulation, preparation, and characterization, as well as the evaluation and testing of raw materials, prototypes, and production samples. This role also involves document management, research and modification of computer data, supporting commercial (sales) and product strategy management with sample requests and shipping, managing laboratory raw materials, consumables, labware, and equipment. Additionally, the technician will support quality control and operations teams and ensure adherence to the company's quality system policies (HACCP / SQF). Performs all other related tasks.

Requirements

• College degree in food sciences (chemistry or other)
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, laboratory standards
• Computer skills (Windows Office applications; knowledge of SAP is an asset)
• Good knowledge of English (spoken/written)

Nice To Haves

• Relevant experience in the food or chemical industry is an asset
• Knowledge of good manufacturing practices in the food industry is an asset

Responsibilities

• Support the R&D team (prototype formulation, preparation, & characterization) evaluation and testing of raw materials, prototypes, & production samples, document management, research and modification of computer data, etc.)

• Manage the raw materials required in the laboratory for the production of prototypes
• Manage consumables, labware and laboratory equipment
• Support the quality control and operations teams
• Respect the company's policies/instructions related to the quality system in place (HACCP / SQF)
• Performs all other related tasks
