About The Position

Dillard University is seeking a Film Instructor to teach a variety of Film courses, including African-American Cinema, Cinematography and Directing, Film Production, and Sound Design for Film. The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in Film or a related field, at least two to three years of teaching experience, and a willingness to engage in scholarship, curriculum development, active research, and service. Industry experience or project-based learning initiatives are highly desirable, as is a record of published research in peer-reviewed journals related to African-American Film.

  • At least two to three years teaching experience.
  • A willingness to teach a variety of Film courses.

Nice To Haves

  • A record of relevant industry experience or project-based learning initiatives is highly desirable.
  • A record of published research in peer-reviewed journals relating to African-American Film is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in scholarship in the areas of curriculum/course development, active research, and quality service.
  • Teach African-American Cinema classes in Film (preferred courses).
  • Engage with students by advising Film clubs/organizations, national competitions, and student-run activities on campus.
  • Assist with university and community service consistent with the mission of Dillard University.
