About The Position

The Filling Operator operates and maintains Krones can filling machines in a beverage manufacturing plant to ensure efficient, accurate filling of cans with liquid products and contribute to production of high-quality canned beverages. The role follows a rotating schedule of 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, four days on and four days off.

The operator sets up and monitors the filling machine, oversees filling, sealing, and labeling, and performs quality checks. The role also includes troubleshooting machine issues, performing routine cleaning and preventative maintenance, and maintaining production and maintenance records.

The operator must notify management of actual or potential food safety issues and is empowered to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work. If the position is vacant for a significant period, food safety and quality tasks become the responsibility of the direct manager or a qualified designee.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions, and decimals.
• High school diploma or GED; or one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience operating Krones can filling machines or similar packaging machinery.
• Ability to perform the essential duties, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.
• Ability to talk or hear; frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, climb, stoop, and kneel; and regularly perform fingering, grasping, and feeling involving repetitive hand movements and hand-eye coordination.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus regularly.

Responsibilities

• Set up the Krones can filling machine for production runs, configuring settings such as can size, filling volume, and product type, and ensure the machine is clean and sanitized before production.
• Monitor the machine during production; load cans and oversee filling, sealing, and labeling processes, making adjustments as needed to maintain consistent product quality.
• Conduct quality control checks, including visual inspections, fill-level measurements, and checks for proper sealing.
• Identify and resolve machine malfunctions or issues; make minor adjustments, perform basic maintenance, or contact maintenance personnel for more complex repairs.
• Perform routine cleaning, sanitation, and preventative maintenance on the can filling machine.
• Maintain accurate production and maintenance records, including production quantities, machine settings, quality checks, and maintenance activities.
• Notify management of actual or potential food safety issues and act to resolve food safety issues within the scope of work.
