Filling Line Technician & Equipment Setup Lead

VizorOld Bridge, NJ

About The Position

VIZOR is an advanced materials and coating technology company with operations in New York City and New Jersey. We develop high-performance active ingredients and specialty raw materials used across personal care and consumer product applications. Our team brings together decades of technical expertise in formulation science, materials engineering, and manufacturing. The Role We are looking for a hands-on Filling Line Technician and Equipment Setup Lead to own the installation, commissioning, and calibration of our personal care filling lines. This is a ground-up build — you will be involved from the moment equipment arrives through full production-ready operation. The ideal candidate has direct, proven experience with liquid/viscous filling equipment in a personal care, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or food & beverage environment, and can work independently to get lines running correctly and keep them running reliably.

Requirements

  • Hands-on mechanical, equipment setup, packaging line, manufacturing engineering, or related technical background.
  • Experience setting up, commissioning, or optimizing filling lines, packaging lines, or liquid/viscous product manufacturing systems.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills across fillers, pumps, conveyors, cappers, labelers, coders, and related packaging equipment.
  • Experience with viscous or hot-pour products such as lotions, creams, gels, emulsions, balms, waxes, or sticks.
  • Familiarity with piston fillers, gear/lobe pumps, heated tanks, jacketed vessels, heat-traced hoses, and fill nozzles preferred.
  • Ability to improve fill accuracy, reduce product loss, solve line issues, and create practical setup/changeover procedures.
  • Self-directed, hands-on problem solver who can build a working system from scratch and train others to operate it.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup, installation, and commissioning of a new filling line from the ground up, including unscramblers, filling heads, cappers, labelers, coders, conveyors, and related packaging equipment.
  • Build out the full filling system for cosmetic and personal care products, with a focus on lotions, creams, emulsions, viscous liquids, and hot-pour formats such as waxes, balms, and sticks.
  • Configure and dial in piston, gear, and lobe pump filling systems to achieve accurate, repeatable fills across different viscosities, container formats, and SKU sizes.
  • Set up heat-traced or jacketed tanks, transfer lines, hoses, and fill nozzles for hot-pour production, ensuring the system can maintain proper product temperature and flow during filling.
  • Design the practical line workflow, including equipment layout, changeover approach, container handling, product flow, operator stations, and end-of-line packaging steps.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, conveyor, servo, PLC-controlled, and pump-related issues during installation, startup, trial runs, and production scale-up.
  • Work closely with production and formulation teams to test products on the line, improve fill accuracy, reduce mess and product loss, increase throughput, and identify equipment or process improvements.
  • Establish startup, shutdown, changeover, cleaning, and line clearance procedures so the filling line can run consistently after the initial buildout.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Flexible Schedule: Minimum of 3 days per week on-site, with additional days as needed based on project timelines and installation milestones.
