About The Position

This position fills and seals cans or pouches to meet product specifications. The role involves running the machine, making changeovers, verifying materials, monitoring product information, running QC samples, verifying product amounts, making adjustments to weights, and maintaining a clean work area. The operator also participates in team activities, adheres to Simmons operating systems principles, and performs other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Background in manufacturing.
Enjoys working with others and sees that teamwork produces a more productive environment.
A highly responsive ability to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.
Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
Basic math skills, reading, writing, computer knowledge and will need to have good communication skills in English.
Steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, Hair Net.

Responsibilities

Runs machine and makes changeovers per scheduling
Verify the pouches or lids staged conform to the batch sheet and feed lids or pouches to the seamer.
Monitor and record pouch or can information.
Run QC inspector samples for seam tear down monitor and record.
Verify proper product amounts. Makes adjustments to can or pouch weights per quality control instruction.
Keep the area clean in down time and changeover events.
Perform weekly sanitation.
Participates as a member of the team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and works with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
