About The Position

The Filler Operator is responsible for safely running, operating, and maintaining equipment that fills containers. This role involves a variety of routine tasks to ensure efficient and quality production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Math ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply, and divide with 10’s and 100’s, as well as using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • An ability to read, write, and understand instructions and simple sentences.
  • An ability to understand the similarities and differences between words and between a series of numbers.
  • Required basic computer operating skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely runs, operates, and maintains equipment that fills containers.
  • Performs startup, set up, and change over tasks.
  • Assesses quality of product.
  • Identifies and attaches pump lines.
  • Starts filler machine and continually monitors filling operation.
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance on filler equipment.
  • Inspects filled containers to ensure that product is packaged according to quality specifications and adjusts as necessary.
  • Cuts stencils and recording of stencils information on containers such as lot number or shipping destination.
  • Feeds and fills containers to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices.
  • Works with supervisor and line leader to resolve filling issues or malfunctions.
  • Stops (Lock-Out-Tag-Out) machines and reports issues and malfunctions to a supervisor or line leader.
  • Reports incidents, hazards, and accidents or potential issues related to quality and environment control.
  • Uses math to calculate weights, set scales, make torque adjustments, and enter data codes.
  • Uses writing and basic computer skills to complete, communicate, and generate production paperwork as well as status updates.
  • Completes paperwork and logbooks.
  • Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, setting guides, or clearing away damaged product containers.
  • Accurately completes production reporting paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned as needed.
