About The Position

Sabertooth Sports & Entertainment is seeking a part-time Figure Skating Coach for the Ford Ice Center in Clarksville. This role involves leading figure skating classes for various levels, ensuring discipline and safety, and promoting student participation in events. The coach will also be responsible for administrative tasks such as completing evaluations and rosters, communicating with parents, and attending meetings and workshops. The position requires a strong understanding of figure skating programs and the ability to work collaboratively with other instructors.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years old.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in coordination of people and resources.
  • Maintain current Learn to Skate USA Membership.
  • Maintain current Learn to Skate USA Certification.
  • Maintain current SafeSport Certification.
  • Maintain current Concussion Training.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to teach all levels of the Learn to Skate USA curriculum.
  • Able to interact successfully with a variety of people.
  • Good leadership and excellent communication skills.
  • Able to establish effective working relationships with many different people.
  • Good at identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Able to train others to accomplish goals.
  • Must have figure skating/hockey knowledge.
  • Must have prior on-ice skating experience.
  • Must have personal figure skates (or hockey skates, if hired directly for hockey purposes).
  • Must be confident of skills and have the ability to make sound, independent decisions.
  • Able to coordinate resources and responsibilities.
  • Able to get along well with others.
  • Must have strong leadership qualities.
  • Subject to a background check, including a criminal history check, driving history and character references.

Responsibilities

  • Leads figure skating classes at all levels, maintaining discipline and safety.
  • Completes class evaluations and rosters.
  • Delivers high-quality instruction using a variety of skating techniques.
  • Returns all equipment and leaves the facility in the condition it was found.
  • Attends all scheduled in-house meetings and on-ice workshops, as well as one teaching seminar approved by the Skating Manager.
  • Exhibits professional behavior and works as a cohesive team with other instructors.
  • Prioritizes skater safety and evaluates skater performance.
  • Promotes and encourages student participation in classes, shows, competitions, tournaments, teams, and other special events.
  • Engages in pre and post-class responsibilities, including student and/or parent interaction.
  • Teaches a minimum of two (2) classes per week or other offered classes, programs, or teams.
  • Communicates continuously with parents regarding student progress, schedule changes, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Works in all Scott Hamilton Skating Academy/U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) sponsored shows, exhibitions, and basic skills test sessions when scheduled.
  • Responsible for special projects as assigned by the Skating Manager.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of all Ford Ice Center figure skating programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Skating Manager.
