About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Fighters Software Engineering Manager (Level K) to join the Software Organization in Daytona Beach, FL. This position will support the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. The role involves leading a team of mission systems software engineers who develop real-time embedded software for a Fighters Platform within an agile, collaborative environment. The software developed is responsible for the Fighters mission system capabilities. The manager will also serve as a business owner on one of the program’s agile release trains, working closely with Program Management and interacting frequently with customers. A key aspect of the role is to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing between St. Louis and Daytona Beach for successful execution. Boeing is a global leader in aerospace, known for its innovation and problem-solving. This position is expected to be 100% onsite in Daytona Beach, FL. Candidates will be required to complete a First-Line Leader Assessment as part of the selection process.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start)
  • At least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership"
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3 or more years of leadership experience
  • Experience working on Mission Systems products
  • Experience leading teams, ideally software teams
  • Working knowledge of the Scale Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with Earned Value Management

Responsibilities

  • Develops and carries out project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and team members
  • Provides guidance and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Hires, Manages, develops and motivates employees
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering
  • Manage within the Scaled Agile Framework environment (SAFe)
  • Coordinate across teams within the Agile Release Train (ART) and across other various ARTs on the Solution Train
  • Manage and coordinate work across unclassified and collateral secret areas to ensure full solutions for the warfighter
  • Fulfills Cost Account Manager (CAM) duties as appropriate for Earned Value Management (EVM) tracking
  • Presents software status as needed to Boeing Program Management and Navy customers and supports the managing of program contracts
