The Fieldwork Intern supports the Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) mission to promote community health by helping New Yorkers make informed health decisions and by supporting the bureau’s clinical and public health services. The role includes outreach to providers and community groups, administrative support for research, and providing feedback on ways to improve sexual health and wellness and reduce racial inequities. The intern will support the BPHC Advisory Group Coordinator with planning, coordinating, and facilitating quarterly Patient Advisory Group meetings and related advisory-group work. Each quarter, a newly recruited group of patients from a designated Department of Health and Mental Hygiene clinic provides structured feedback on clinic services, proposed programs, and communication materials. The position offers hands-on experience in community engagement, public health administration, and stakeholder communication in a New York City government setting. The role requires up to 25 hours per week, depending on the meeting cycle and the coordinator’s needs. The intern must be currently enrolled as a graduate student and able to report to in-person meetings at City clinic locations. Some positions may allow work from home up to two days per week, depending on the position.
