About The Position

RK Mechanical is hiring Field Welders to build mechanical piping systems for commercial and industrial projects. The role calls for safe, high-quality field welding and supports mechanical system installations. Field Welder 1 and Field Welder 2 assignments are based on skills, experience, and responsibility. Field Welder 1 may guide crew members and work more independently, while Field Welder 2 works with closer supervision.

The job may involve working indoors or outdoors, in varied weather, at heights, or in confined spaces. Employees are authorized to stop work when an unsafe condition is present.

Requirements

• Field welding experience and knowledge of pipefitting practices, materials, and tools.
• Ability to follow established procedures, solve problems, and communicate when something needs attention.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and helping the crew succeed.
• Ability to perform work involving climbing, balancing, squatting, kneeling, and crouching, and occasional lifting and carrying of 51–75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Weld pipe using SMAW (stick), GTAW (TIG), and GMAW (MIG), as qualified and required by the project.
• Produce complete, sound welds that meet quality standards and have a clean finish.
• Support mechanical system installations and identify work that may fall short of plans, specifications, or code requirements.
• Plan daily and weekly work, coordinate with the crew, and request materials, tools, and equipment needed to keep work moving.
• Meet production goals while maintaining safe, high-quality workmanship.
• Maintain the personal hand tools needed for assigned work.
• For Field Welder 1 assignments, potentially provide crew guidance and work with greater independence.
