About The Position

The Field Underwriter inspects and reviews property, assesses liability exposures, and assists in special projects to determine the Company’s approach to new risks/exposures. This role facilitates direct contact with insureds and the agency force by explaining the Company philosophy on individual risks and completing inspection reports in a timely manner. The Field Underwriter also makes presentations to the agency force.

Requirements

  • College degree or minimum of five years P&C underwriting, P&C claims or P&C sales experience and completion of AU, API, or other insurance related designation required
  • Continued involvement in professional education required
  • Completion of P&C Agent License within 90 days
  • Completion of additional CPCU/IIA designation required within 5 years. Additional insurance related designations will not be required if significant progress toward the CPCU designation has been achieved.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and meet the driving requirements of GFBMIC
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret procedures, regulations, instructions, manuals and other documents as required.
  • Excellent telephone, public relations and oral/written communication skills are required
  • Must be able to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Must possess basic skills with personal computer; experience with Windows, word processing, PowerPoint, Access database, spreadsheets and internet.
  • Access to GFB system(s) and functional access within those systems will be assigned as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
  • The employee must be able to organize and prioritize work; must have the knowledge of office administration procedures and able to operate most standard office equipment.
  • The employee must pay attention to detail in composing and proofing materials.
  • Must be self-motivated with initiative and ability to make decisions and accept responsibility.
  • Be flexible to respond to unexpected situations that require immediate attention.
  • A high level of confidentiality is to be maintained by the employee

  • Maintain good working relationship between the home office & field force
