About The Position

Working Lands Conservation is a research-based non-profit in Logan, UT, focused on improving land management through science and collaborative partnerships. The team consists of field ecologists and communicators who value relationship-building alongside data collection. Requirements

  • Experience as a field-based research technician collecting rangeland vegetation, water, and soil data
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience living / working in a remote location
  • Ability to (happily) spend long days in extreme conditions including cold, hot, and buggy environments
  • Ability to carry 20 pounds over uneven terrain
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Enthusiastic and hard-working
  • Detail oriented, able to work in pairs, and able to problem solve

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience specifically regarding collecting data on plants, water quality, and soils in sagebrush ecosystems from past work roles

Responsibilities

  • Work under supervision of WLC staff scientists to accomplish seasonal field work focused on plants, water, soils, and wildlife in rangeland uplands and riparian areas
  • Travel for fieldwork
  • Plant identification and monitoring
  • Water quality monitoring
  • Other duties that are reasonable and consistent with this position.
