About The Position

The Field Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operation, maintenance, and reliability of all technology used across the theatre circuit, including digital cinema projection systems, audio equipment, IT hardware, and arcade systems. This role ensures high quality presentation standards, rapid response to technical issues, and consistent communication with theatre teams and internal departments. The Field Technician works both on-site and remotely, traveling regularly to assigned locations to perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and training. This position plays a critical role in ensuring reliable theatre operations and exceptional presentation quality. This position blends technical expertise, field service work, problem-solving, and cross-department collaboration. Ideal candidates are self motivated, adaptable, and eager to expand their knowledge of cinema technology, IT systems, and arcade equipment.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with digital cinema systems is preferred but not required, and training may be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain digital cinema projection systems and audio equipment.
  • Build and schedule movie playlists, trailers, and advertisements.
  • Monitor picture and sound quality during screenings and take corrective action as needed.
  • Manage digital content transfers, encryption keys (KDMs), content play lists (CPLs), show play lists (SPLs), and related assets.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on projection, audio, and server equipment, typically twice per year or as directed by manufacturers.
  • Maintain projection booths and equipment in clean, safe working order.
  • Track and manage inventories such as xenon bulbs and 3D glasses, including weekly reporting and reorders.
  • Assist with installation, upgrades, or replacement of projection and sound systems.
  • Monitor and maintain IT hardware at each location, including point of sale systems, credit card pin pads, networking components, and security cameras.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and replenish or repair equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain arcade and fun center equipment.
  • Maintain and replenish spare parts inventory for arcade systems across multiple locations.
  • Respond to emergency calls, emails, and technical issues during regular business hours and after hours.
  • Maintain responsibility for each issue until resolved or appropriately handed off.
  • Travel regularly to field locations to complete repairs, conduct preventative maintenance, and ensure presentation standards are upheld.
  • Communicate consistently with IT, Projection, Film, Operations, and theatre management teams.
  • Create and provide training materials for field management and theatre staff.
  • Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and reports related to maintenance, repairs, and equipment status.
