About The Position

T-Mobile is seeking a motivated and skilled Field Technician to support our Engineering & Operations team across the city of Philadelphia and some surrounding suburbs. This position is ideal for a well-rounded technician who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys working independently, and is comfortable supporting a wide range of network sites. You will play a key role in maintaining network performance, resolving issues, and supporting ongoing improvements across the market. The Field Technician serves as a technical contributor within and occasionally beyond their immediate team. This role supports both operational and project-based work, requiring a solid understanding of radio access networks (RAN), backhaul, signaling, disaster recovery, data services, and location-based services. The position also requires foundational knowledge of network design, capacity planning, and power systems (AC/DC), along with the ability to apply that knowledge in real-world field scenarios.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent relevant field experience. Candidates with deep technical or field experience are encouraged to apply—no degree required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in field operations, maintenance, or related technical roles
  • 2–4 years of experience in wireless telecommunications or a related field
  • Basic operational knowledge, understanding, and theory of all interconnecting circuits to include but not limited to RF transmitters, antenna systems, AAV, fiber, microwave radio, and AC/DC power systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar productivity tools. Includes an understanding of Internet Protocol and a willingness to incorporate AI-driven tools when preparing and triaging solutions for logical network components.
  • Demonstrated experience with, or the ability to learn, Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment and 5G NR standards as they apply to field operations.
  • Working knowledge of base station equipment, installation, configuration, and maintenance as it relates to network performance and reliability.
  • Candidates are expected to actively grow their skills through ongoing training, certifications, and hands-on experience in an ever-evolving telecommunications landscape.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery protocols and the ability to complete contingency plans to restore network services with minimal disruption.
  • Ability to systematically identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues across a range of hardware and software systems in both planned and emergency scenarios.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and complete field assignments efficiently, managing time, resources, and priorities to meet deadlines and service commitments.
  • Practical knowledge of RAN architecture, components, and operations, with the ability to support deployment, maintenance, and optimization activities.
  • Ability to provide hands-on technical assistance and field-level support to internal teams and partners, ensuring timely resolution of equipment and network issues.
  • Understanding of wireless backhaul technologies and configurations used to connect cell sites to the core network, including microwave and fiber-based solutions.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company assigned vehicle
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Ability to lift 50–70 pounds; outdoor work in varied weather conditions is an expected part of this role. (Preferred)
