About The Position

The Field Technician will be responsible for installing, commissioning, and testing DX Voltage Regulators and DX Line Reclosers. This role involves configuring equipment settings, troubleshooting issues, supporting SCADA integration, and performing preventive maintenance. The technician will work independently in field environments, review technical documentation, and ensure compliance with utility standards and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience working with utility distribution equipment, preferably DX Voltage Regulators and DX Line Reclosers.
  • Knowledge of distribution systems, controls, and protective devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in outdoor field environments and travel as required.
  • Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, arc-flash rated clothing as required).
  • Proactively identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards or unsafe conditions, particularly around energized equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, utility-specific safety standards, and internal safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and energize DX Voltage Regulators and DX Line Reclosers.
  • Perform functional and operational testing of regulators and reclosers.
  • Configure and verify control, protection, and communication settings.
  • Test regulator controls, tap changer operations, and voltage regulation functions.
  • Test recloser trip, close, lockout, sequence, and fault-interruption operations.
  • Perform wiring verification, control circuit checkout, and point-to-point testing.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, controls, communications, and automation systems.
  • Support SCADA integration and remote-control verification.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment upgrades.
  • Review electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Document commissioning, testing, maintenance, and settings changes.
  • Follow utility standards, safety procedures, and industry best practices.
