Advanced Compressor Technology (ACT) is seeking an experienced Field Technician Lead to join our growing team. This leadership role is ideal for a hands-on professional with extensive experience servicing centrifugal and reciprocating compressors and a proven ability to lead field personnel in industrial and petrochemical environments. As a Field Technician Lead, you will supervise field mechanics, coordinate service activities, perform complex compressor repairs, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory or management experience leading field service personnel.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the petrochemical, compression, rotating equipment, or related industrial industry.
  • Proven experience servicing centrifugal and reciprocating compressors.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience using hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Understanding of compressor maintenance, rotor rebuilding, gearbox repairs, and mechanical seals.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Basic mathematics and measurement skills.
  • Comfortable using computers and electronic documentation systems.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and assign work to Field Mechanics.
  • Assist with scheduling field service activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely customer response.
  • Support employee development through coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training.
  • Conduct competency assessments, refresher training, and performance evaluations.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, corrective actions, and disciplinary processes.
  • Ensure effective communication and continuity between shifts and projects.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on centrifugal and reciprocating compressors.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, overhaul, install, and remove compressor equipment in the field.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble components while ensuring proper alignment, balance, and tolerances.
  • Remove, rebuild, clean, and install compressor rotors.
  • Replace, rebuild, and install gearboxes and related mechanical components.
  • Inspect bearings, rotors, clearances, and other critical compressor components.
  • Perform compressor repairs, including mechanical seal removal and installation.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Identify equipment deficiencies and communicate recommendations to management.
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure technicians maintain compliance with safety and operational requirements.
  • Complete field service reports, performance logs, quality documentation, and training records accurately.
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with ACT's quality management system.
  • Conduct quarterly and annual employee assessments to ensure technical competency and compliance.
  • Advise customers on equipment conditions, necessary repairs, and preventative maintenance recommendations.
  • Build strong customer relationships through professional service and technical expertise.
