About The Position

Pape’ Material Handling, a premier capital equipment dealer in the West, is seeking a skilled and driven Field Technician to join their team. This role involves keeping customers’ material handling equipment running at peak performance by traveling throughout an assigned region to perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance at customer locations. The goal is to ensure maximum uptime for essential equipment. The technician will work on all makes and models of material handling equipment, diagnosing and repairing various systems including electric forklift systems, LPG and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, carburetors, electrical and air systems, final drives, and clutches. Occasional assistance with shop repairs may be required. Responsibilities include troubleshooting equipment issues, communicating with customers, delivering high-quality service, and working with the Parts Department to identify and order necessary parts. The role involves driving a fully equipped service vehicle, performing expert service and repairs, and building customer relationships.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience diagnosing and repairing equipment, preferably in the material handling industry.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Self-motivation.
  • Ability to work under little or no supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
  • Driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Must provide own tools.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on material handling equipment at customer locations.
  • Diagnose and repair electric forklift systems, LPG and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, carburetors, electrical and air systems, final drives, and clutches.
  • Assist with repairs in the shop occasionally.
  • Accurately troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Communicate clearly with customers.
  • Ensure high-quality service is delivered on every visit.
  • Work with the Parts Department to identify, order, and return parts as needed.
