The Field Technician is responsible for collecting samples, observation, and/or inspection of products or raw materials for laboratory analysis. This role works under immediate supervision to perform job functions. The technician will collect samples of products and raw materials being transferred to containers, vessels, barges, trucks, and/or rail. They will ensure sample containers and paperwork are properly labeled with identifying data, location, date, and time of collection, and then deliver the samples to the laboratory for analysis. Responsibilities also include sample preparation, reduction, and division into appropriate sizes, gathering samples at specified locations and times, and performing sample screening or other related physical tests. The role requires ensuring all equipment and containers are organized and cleaned before and after use, wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensuring compliance with all local and federal safety processes and procedures. Depending on business needs, the Field Technician may also be responsible for preparation or laboratory tasks. The position requires adherence to internal standards, policies, and procedures, and performing other duties as assigned.
