The Field Technician is responsible for collecting samples, observation, and/or inspection of products or raw materials for laboratory analysis. This role operates on a 4 on 4 off schedule with 12-hour shifts (5am to 5pm and 5pm to 5am) rotating, and may require occasional overtime. The technician works under immediate supervision to perform job functions, including collecting samples during transfers to containers, vessels, barges, trucks, and/or rail. They ensure proper labeling of samples and paperwork, deliver samples to the laboratory, and perform sample preparation, reduction, and division. The role involves gathering samples at specified locations and times, performing screening and physical tests, and maintaining organized and clean equipment and containers. Adherence to safety procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE and complying with local and federal safety regulations, is crucial. Depending on business needs, the technician may also be assigned preparation or laboratory responsibilities and must adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
