About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Field Technician in Rock Island, IL, to perform routine field tasks as directed by the Construction Manager, with work checked by others during and after completion. In this first-level trainee role, you may be assigned to a construction project to serve as a construction observer—making field measurements, completing documentation entries, and reading and interpreting plans. Principal Responsibilities Perform basic field inspection, testing, and documentation Support construction observation activities, including field measurements, documentation entries, and reading/interpreting plans Assist with on site or laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and hot mix asphalt Attend training to achieve various certifications Operate company vehicles Maintain equipment and vehicles Observe safety and security procedures

Requirements

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM), or Engineering preferred
  • Prior experience in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to read a tape measure in both fractions and tenths
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Must always maintain professional conduct
  • Valid driver’s license required with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier
  • Advanced/Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
