About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is looking for a Field Technician C for the Company’s Field Services organization supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role involves providing technical support for various programs/systems (FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS and others) that L3Harris supports for the FAA. The technician will install, repair, configure, test, and perform preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment at customer remote locations. The position requires the ability to work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity to various customer locations within the assigned area, with occasional travel to remote sites outside the assigned area as needed. Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time to remote sites within a 3-hour drive circle of the base location is expected, and technicians may be asked to travel outside their assigned region. The role demands good administrative skills for documenting work, and the ability to work directly with the NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk to resolve field issues. Maintenance of tools, test equipment, parts, inventory, and personal or company vehicles is also a key responsibility. Technicians must be proactive, prepared for assigned tasks before dispatch, and able to work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) when necessary. Physical requirements include lifting up to 32 lbs and using ladders/step stools to reach heights of approximately 10ft. The technician will work with their supervisor to ensure adherence to all L3Harris and program-specific policies and procedures. A key requirement is the ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience OR 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License, and a satisfactory driving record.

  • Knowledge of power testing, AC and DC including 3 Phase AC.
  • Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies.
  • Experience with network and circuit testing with T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards.
  • Knowledge and usage of various network test equipment: JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Para-scope or other T1/DS3 Test sets.
  • IP Based knowledge with experience configuring routers and switches
  • Experience installing equipment racks (wallmount, raised floors, concrete, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, configure, test and complete preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment at the customers’ remote locations.
  • Work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity to various customer locations within your assigned area.
  • Occasionally travel to remote sites outside your assigned area may be needed from time to time to assist with the FAA customer needs and/or requests.
  • Travel to remote sites within a 3 hour drive circle of base location (up to 100% of the time).
  • Travel outside of assigned region, as needed.
  • Read/understand/follow equipment drawings and task orders.
  • Possess good admin skills (taking notes and documenting what transpired while working at the customer location).
  • Work directly with the NOCC, the SAC, and the Helpdesk over the phone on resolving issues in the field.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory and personal or company vehicle.
  • Be proactive and prepared for assigned tasks prior to dispatching.
  • Work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) when/if needed to meet customer’s needs.
  • Lift items up to 32 lbs. and use ladders and step stools to reach heights of approximately 10ft.
  • Work with your supervisor (ASL) to ensure all L3Harris policies/procedures and program specific policies/procedures are followed.
  • Obtain and maintain a FAA Public Trust Security Clearance.
