About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is looking for a Field Technician C for the Company’s Field Services organization supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role involves providing technical support for various FAA systems, including FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS, and others. The technician will install, repair, configure, test, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment at remote customer locations. The position requires the ability to work remotely, including on-call duties, and travel to various customer sites within the assigned area, and potentially outside the region. Occasional travel to remote sites outside the assigned area may be needed. The technician must be able to read and understand equipment drawings and task orders, possess good administrative skills for documentation, and work with the NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk to resolve field issues. Maintaining tools, test equipment, inventory, and personal or company vehicles is also a responsibility. Proactive preparation for assigned tasks before dispatching is expected. The role may require working outside regularly scheduled hours to meet customer needs. Physical requirements include lifting up to 32 lbs and using ladders to reach heights of approximately 10ft. The technician will work with their supervisor to ensure adherence to L3Harris and program-specific policies and procedures. The ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust Security Clearance is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License, and a satisfactory driving record, as conditions of initial (and continued) employment.

  • Knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449
  • Knowledge of fiber, working knowledge of Multiplexers, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice and Data applications
  • Knowledge of power testing, AC and DC including 3 Phase AC.
  • Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies.
  • Experience with network and circuit testing with T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards.
  • Knowledge and usage of various network test equipment: JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Para-scope or other T1/DS3 Test sets.
  • IP Based knowledge with experience configuring routers and switches
  • Experience installing equipment racks (wallmount, raised floors, concrete, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for each specific program/system (FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS and others) L3Harris supports for the FAA.
  • Install, repair, configure, test and complete preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment at the customers’ remote locations.
  • Work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity to various customer locations within your assigned area.
  • Occasionally travel to remote sites outside your assigned area may be needed from time to time to assist with the FAA customer needs and/or requests.
  • Willing to travel (up to 100% of the time) to remote sites within a 3 hour drive circle of base location.
  • Technicians may be asked to travel outside of their assigned region, as needed.
  • Read/understand/follow equipment drawings and task orders.
  • Possess good admin skills (taking notes and documenting what transpired while working at the customer location).
  • Work directly with the NOCC, the SAC, and the Helpdesk over the phone on resolving issues in the field.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory and personal or company vehicle.
  • Be proactive and prepared for assigned tasks prior to dispatching.
  • Work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) when/if needed to meet customer’s needs.
  • Lift items up to 32 lbs. and use ladders and step stools to reach heights of approximately 10ft.
  • Work with your supervisor (ASL) to ensure all L3Harris policies/procedures and program specific policies/procedures are followed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a FAA Public Trust Security Clearance.
