We are seeking out hard-working and motivated individuals to join our Materials Technology team at our Ottawa location. You will join a team of enthusiastic and dedicated technicians while operating under the supervision and mentorship of our civil and geotechnical engineering professionals. This is an entry-level contract position, but intermediate and senior roles are available based on your experience and technical certifications within this service line. Requirements

  • Preference for enrolment in, or graduating from, a civil, geotechnical, or engineering program. Other relevant education and industry work experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service communication skills.
  • The capacity and willingness to learn new skills and testing procedures.
  • Access to a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license to carry out daily site inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Completion of Quality Assurance and Quality Control materials testing services on-site for various construction projects within Ottawa and the surrounding areas.
  • Conducting compaction testing during site grading and backfilling operations, including sampling soil and aggregates for laboratory analysis.
  • Concrete and asphalt sampling and testing for various building and infrastructure projects.
  • Support field staff in investigative work including concrete coring, specialized testing, test pit investigations, and site data collection.
  • Competent with the use of Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to lift and carry 23.7 kg (50 lbs.)
  • Willingness to work a regular 40-hour work week and possible overtime up to a limit of 13 hours total per day.
  • Willingness to travel up to 200 km per day using personal vehicle.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
