About The Position

EBC is a leader in major infrastructure projects including bridges, roads, highways, tunnels, and marine installations. We are seeking a Field Surveyor for the Don Valley Crossings Metrolinx project in East York. The surveyor will assist the project team with site management and coordination tasks, reporting to the Survey Manager. This role requires reporting to the construction site.

Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary studies or applicable training.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar position.
  • Good knowledge of Job Site Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Project and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations.
  • Record survey results, including shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
  • Plan and conduct ground surveys to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements.
  • Coordinate findings with engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others.
  • Adjust surveying instruments to maintain accuracy.
  • Establish fixed points for mapping using geodetic and engineering instruments.
  • Train assistants and helpers, and direct their work in surveys and map drafting.
  • Analyze survey objectives and specifications to prepare survey proposals or direct others in their preparation.
  • Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.
  • Survey bodies of water to determine navigable channels and secure data for marine structures.
  • Direct aerial surveys of specified geographical areas.
  • Determine specifications for photographic equipment and altitudes for aerial photography.
