About The Position

This role involves performing non-destructive testing (NDT) using various methods such as Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT), and Positive Material Identification Testing (PMI) in alignment with project specifications and industry standards. The technician will interpret and evaluate test results, document findings, and provide recommendations. This position supports quality control efforts by collaborating with engineering and construction teams to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Additionally, the role includes assisting in training junior technicians, maintaining and calibrating NDT equipment, participating in inspections, and preparing detailed records of test results and equipment maintenance. The role also encompasses administrative duties such as filing, copying, scanning, faxing, answering phones, and ordering supplies. A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in non-destructive testing, particularly in PT, PMI, and MT methodologies.
  • Certification in PT, MT, and PMI from a recognized body (e.g., ASNT Level II or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with NDT equipment and techniques, including familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and industry practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in varied environmental conditions.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed on site.
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification in NDT preferred.
  • Previous industrial field experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) using various methods, including Penetrant Testing (PT-Visible/Solvent), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT-Visible Dry Powder) and Positive Material Identification Testing (PMI) in alignment with project specifications and industry standards (e.g., ASNT, API, AWS, ASTM).
  • Interpret and evaluate test results, documenting findings in site welding database software and provide recommendations for further actions.
  • Support quality control efforts by collaborating with engineering and construction teams to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians, providing guidance on NDT techniques and procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate NDT equipment to ensure accuracy and readiness for testing procedures.
  • Participate in inspections and assessments, contributing to root cause analyses and corrective actions, as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of safety within the team.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records of test results, equipment maintenance, and compliance documentation.
  • Perform administrative duties including filing, copying, scanning, and faxing documents.
  • Answer telephone calls, take messages, and transfer calls.
  • Order project or department supplies and maintain supply cabinet.
  • Assist in distribution of incoming and outgoing documents.
  • Keep abreast of project and department systems, services relevant to area of responsibility, and project process improvements, procedures, and practices.
  • Process a variety of procedural steps in accordance with well-defined procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist in data entry using project databases within assigned department.
  • Maintain a confidential manner to ensure confidentiality of employee and project files.
  • Be punctual and maintain a dependable level of attendance in accordance to project work rules.
  • Check quality of own work.
  • Assist in coordinating meeting arrangements and catering services for department functions.
