About The Position

Trident Consulting is seeking a Field Support Engineer for one of our clients in Groton, CT. This role is with a global leader in business and technology services. The Field Support Engineer will be responsible for providing IT support, desktop engineering, systems support, and infrastructure support. This includes troubleshooting Windows 10 and 11, installing and configuring Windows workstations, and troubleshooting software and hardware issues. The role also involves working with Active Directory, understanding network fundamentals, and managing user permissions. Strong documentation and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to troubleshoot independently and escalate issues appropriately. Collaboration with application owners, infrastructure teams, vendors, and end-users is a key aspect of this position. The engineer will also be required to work onsite and support scheduled deployment activities.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of relevant IT support, desktop engineering, systems support, or infrastructure experience.
  • Strong Windows 10 and Windows 11 troubleshooting experience.
  • Windows workstation installation, configuration, and administration.
  • Software installation and troubleshooting.
  • Hardware and peripheral troubleshooting.
  • Windows device drivers and Device Manager.
  • Active Directory and domain-joined workstation concepts.
  • Network troubleshooting fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network shares.
  • User/group permissions and local security concepts.
  • Application and operating-system compatibility troubleshooting.
  • Backup, restoration, and data migration fundamentals.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and execute defined technical procedures.
  • Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues and escalate appropriately.
  • Ability to work with application owners, infrastructure teams, vendors, and end users.
  • Ability to work onsite and support scheduled deployment activities as required.

Responsibilities
