A field supervisor (FS) is a contracted certified educator employed by WTAMU that will observe teacher candidates, and monitor their performance by evaluating and providing constructive feedback to the novice teachers to improve their effectiveness as developing educators. Field supervisors serve as a liaison between the school district and the university to create a positive and valuable experience for interns and clinical teachers. They are instrumental in the growth of educators by sharing feedback with the teacher candidate using effective coaching strategies, and collaborating with the mentor/cooperating teacher(s) and administrator(s). Field supervisors will be involved with field observations and support for their assigned candidates. Field Supervisors will conduct formal observations and informal observations when the candidate is completing their clinical teaching experience or internship. In addition, the field supervisor will keep documentation of their work with their assigned novice teacher. This position works during the Fall and Spring semesters in alignment with local school district calendars.
