About The Position

DCSAM is seeking an experienced and motivated Field Level Supervisor to oversee daily field operations on a Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Asset Maintenance Contract serving the Memphis area. This position is responsible for supervising crews, ensuring contract compliance, maintaining safety standards, and delivering high-quality roadway maintenance services. The Field Level Supervisor will play a critical role in managing the contract’s herbicide vegetation management program, litter patrol operations, and other roadway maintenance activities while serving as the primary point of contact between field personnel and management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory experience in roadway maintenance, highway construction, vegetation management, or related infrastructure maintenance.
  • Experience managing multiple field crews and coordinating daily work activities.
  • Working knowledge of TDOT specifications, roadway maintenance practices, or similar DOT maintenance contracts preferred.
  • Knowledge of herbicide application practices, vegetation management techniques, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to read plans, work orders, maps, and maintenance schedules.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and mobile reporting applications.
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical education preferred.
  • Tennessee Commercial Pesticide Applicator License or the ability to obtain one.
  • MUTCD Work Zone Traffic Control certification.
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience working under performance-based roadway maintenance contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily field operations in accordance with TDOT contract requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee the contract’s Herbicide Program, ensuring proper application methods, environmental compliance, and accurate documentation.
  • Manage the Litter Patrol Program, including scheduling routes, assigning crews, monitoring productivity, and verifying completion of work.
  • Supervise roadway maintenance activities including, but not limited to: Vegetation management and mowing support, Drainage system inspection and maintenance, Guardrail and roadway hardware repairs, Sign maintenance and replacement, Fence repairs, Shoulder and roadway repairs, Debris removal, Graffiti removal, Emergency response operations.
  • Conduct daily field inspections to verify work quality, safety compliance, and contract performance standards.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with OSHA, TDOT, MUTCD, and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate personnel, equipment, subcontractors, and materials to maximize efficiency.
  • Complete daily reports, work orders, inspection logs, herbicide application records, and other required documentation.
  • Monitor crew productivity and provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Identify maintenance deficiencies and prioritize corrective actions.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and weather-related events as required.
  • Communicate effectively with TDOT representatives, project management, and field personnel regarding ongoing operations and contract performance.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
