The Field Supervisor oversees daily field-testing operations, mentor’s a team of engineering technicians, and ensures that construction materials like soil, concrete, asphalt, and masonry comply with project specifications and regulatory standards. Acting as the primary liaison between field staff, project managers, and contractors, this role combines technical expertise in quality control with hands-on leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of construction materials testing experience, with prior leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, navigate uneven terrain, and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to pass an extensive background and drug screening.
  • Valid Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician, NICET, ICC Special Inspections, and/or local state DOT certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, schedule, and mentor a team of field technicians performing observations and tests.
  • Ensure field testing and sampling for soils, concrete, aggregate, and asphalt comply with ASTM, ACI, IBC, or TxDOT standards.
  • Lead on-site safety programs, enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) rules, and conduct safety meetings.
  • Oversee the calibration, maintenance, and safe storage of field testing gear (such as nuclear density gauges).
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and project managers regarding field progress and testing results.
  • Review field reports and data logs for accuracy, completeness, and specification compliance.
