About The Position

The Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily park operations, leads maintenance crews, ensures safety and quality standards, and coordinates projects that keep parks clean, functional, and welcoming. This role involves monitoring employee worktime, reporting project status, managing equipment and materials, conducting safety training and audits, and assisting with work schedules and material deliveries. The Field Supervisor also handles employment training, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations for their team. Additionally, employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall for emergency response operations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Minimum of three (3) years in groundskeeping, landscaping, facility maintenance, or related fields.
  • Minimum of One (1) to two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida and be insurable by current insurance carrier, or valid Florida Identification Card is acceptable only for positions not required to drive a county vehicle.
  • Must have or be able to obtain certification within three (3) months of employment in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS), IS-200.b: ICS for Single Resources & Initial Action Incidents, IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System.
  • Knowledge of Safe, efficient, and effective use of maintenance equipment in maintaining park sites and amenities.
  • Knowledge of Material control in reference to waste, misuse, needs and stock.
  • General knowledge of construction and landscaping practices.
  • Ability to Recognize safety hazards and enforce safety regulations and precautions.
  • Ability to Establish and maintain good working relationships with departments, associates and the general public.
  • Ability to Work independently without close supervision and make sound judgment decisions.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to Communicate effectively through verbal and electronic means.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors employee worktime and reports daily to the Parks Maintenance Foreman regarding project status, material and equipment needs, problems and recommended solutions.
  • Oversees equipment, vehicles, tools, and materials to include coordinating repairs, tracking inventory and recommending any necessary purchases.
  • Conducts safety training, audits safety policies and procedures, and observes daily operations for safety violations or hazards; taking corrective action as needed.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly work schedules that support daily operating needs.
  • Assists in the scheduling of material deliveries.
  • Works with staff and vendors to coordinate and schedule material deliveries.
  • Assumes responsibility for all employment training, disciplinary, and performance evaluation activities of personnel.
  • Performs other reasonably related duties assigned by immediate supervisor or other management personnel.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description.
