About The Position

West Penn Energy Services is looking for an experienced Field Superintendent to lead pipeline construction operations in the field. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for coordinating crews, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and daily construction activities from mobilization through completion. The ideal candidate has strong pipeline construction experience, knows how to keep a crew moving, can make sound decisions in the field, and takes pride in completing quality work safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of experience in pipeline construction, heavy civil construction, or a related field.
  • Previous experience leading construction crews and overseeing daily field operations.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline construction methods and field processes.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, alignment sheets, maps, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn company-specific documentation systems.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Equipment operation, rigging, or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily pipeline construction activities and coordinate work between crews and subcontractors.
  • Plan and organize daily work based on project schedules, site conditions, manpower, equipment, materials, and customer requirements.
  • Lead and direct field crews, equipment operators, and subcontractors.
  • Assign work and provide clear direction to employees and crew leaders.
  • Monitor productivity, workmanship, and progress to keep projects on schedule.
  • Coordinate project mobilization, equipment setup, material staging, right-of-way preparation, and demobilization.
  • Oversee pipeline construction activities including excavation, pipe installation, welding support, coating, testing, backfill, cleanup, and restoration.
  • Review construction drawings, alignment sheets, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, inspectors, customers, and field personnel to coordinate project activities.
  • Conduct or participate in daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive job site and address unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Monitor work for compliance with project specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
  • Identify quality issues and ensure corrections are completed to minimize rework.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and other resources needed for daily operations.
  • Monitor equipment condition and communicate maintenance or repair needs.
  • Track material needs and coordinate equipment and material movement throughout the project.
  • Complete or oversee daily reports, production records, crew hours, equipment records, quantities, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate project progress, field conditions, delays, equipment issues, and material needs to the Project Manager.
  • Troubleshoot field issues and develop practical solutions to keep work moving.
  • Operate construction equipment or vehicles when needed and when properly trained, licensed, and authorized.
  • Support equipment mobilization and demobilization as required.
  • Provide coaching, direction, and support to field employees.
  • Represent West Penn Energy Services professionally with customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
