The City of Fairfield is accepting applications for the position of Public Utilities Superintendent - Field. Fairfield is located in Southwestern Ohio about 20 miles north of Cincinnati, home to ~45,000 residents. The City’s Public Utilities Department, with annual revenues of approximately $24 million, operates an Ohio EPA Class II water distribution and wastewater collection system with a mission to protect public health, protect public safety, provide cost effective rates and protect the environment. The Field Superintendent manages the operation and maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems and reports to the Director of Public Utilities. The Field Superintendent will be designated as the operator of record of the two systems and will oversee a staff of approximately 20 classified employees. The City’s Water Distribution System is an Ohio EPA Class II distribution system which serves roughly 13,000 metered accounts. The system consists of 3 pressure zones, 6 water towers with 8.25 million gallons of capacity, ~190 Miles of 2-inch to 20-inch cast and ductile iron pipe, ~2,500 fire hydrants, ~2,600 main line valves, 3 booster pump stations, 3 pressure regulating valves, and 5 system interconnections. The City’s Wastewater Collection System is also an Ohio EPA Class II collection system. The system consists of 30 sewer basins, ~175 miles of 6-inch to 42-inch pipe, ~4,500 manholes, 12 lift stations, a relief sewer system and lift station, and 8 diversion structures.
