About The Position

The Field Staff Hydrogeologist is an entry-level, field-oriented position that provides hands-on support for hydrogeologic and environmental projects. This role focuses on performing routine field activities, data collection, sampling, and monitoring under the direction of a supervising hydrogeologist or project manager. Other duties include following established procedures, project plans, and regulatory requirements to support groundwater and surface water monitoring, drilling oversight, aquifer testing, and environmental site assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or a related field
  • 0–2 years of relevant hydrogeologic, environmental, or field-based experience
  • Basic understanding of groundwater and surface water monitoring methods
  • Familiarity with standard field equipment and sampling procedures
  • Ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate field records
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine field data collection for hydrogeologic and environmental projects
  • Measure and record groundwater levels, flow rates, and basic water quality parameters using standard field instruments
  • Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples following approved sampling plans and procedures
  • Assist with well installation, drilling oversight, and pumping and aquifer testing activities as directed
  • Conduct baseline groundwater and surface water monitoring activities
  • Perform routine environmental monitoring in accordance with project plans and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with geologic field tasks, including soil logging and subsurface observations
  • Accurately document field activities, measurements, and observations in field logs and electronic systems
  • Follow all approved health and safety plans, including use of required PPE
  • Support environmental site assessments and provide field documentation for technical reports
  • Coordinate field activities with engineers, environmental scientists, and other project team members
