The Field Services Specialist performs specimen collection and related field services for Luxor Scientific. The role includes managing collection supplies; assembling test requisitions and entering requisition data into the laboratory information system; performing phlebotomy and collecting blood specimens; assisting patients and client staff with specimen collection; labeling, processing, preparing, and shipping specimens to the laboratory; and printing and delivering test results to the Client when applicable. The Specialist must efficiently collect and process specimens according to established procedures and applicable requirements, manage specimens and documentation at different stages, and adjust to varying workloads. During slower periods, the Specialist uses available time for directly related services, such as gathering chart notes and medical-necessity documentation, preparing requisitions and supplies for appointments, and maintaining supply levels. Federal regulations prohibit performing other tasks without prior manager approval. The schedule is every Tuesday, approximately eight hours per week, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Depending on client-specific needs, other daily hours, weekends, and holidays may be included. The work takes place in a clinic or group medical practice environment, with potential exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Supervised and observed urine drug specimen collection may be required; the observer must be the same gender as the person providing the specimen. The Specialist must comply with applicable HIPAA and HITECH security and privacy requirements and the Anti-Kickback Statute. The role is limited to the described specimen-collection and related processing duties; it does not include additional clerical or medical functions unrelated to laboratory specimen collection or processing.
