About The Position

The Field Service Technician is a highly motivated and technically skilled professional with experience in industrial control, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), pump systems, and electro-mechanical equipment. This individual is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, commissioning, and maintaining commercial and industrial pumping systems, control panels, motors, and VFDs while providing exceptional customer service in the field. Our most successful Field Service Technicians demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills in industrial control systems, VFDs, motors, and pump systems. They diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control-related failures on pumping equipment and associated systems. They commission, configure, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor starters, PLC-based controls, sensors, and instrumentation. They read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, control wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings. They utilize electrical testing and diagnostic equipment including multimeters, megohm meters, clamp meters, oscilloscopes (preferred), and other specialized test instruments. They perform preventive maintenance, startup, repair, and performance testing of centrifugal pumps, booster systems, circulators, vertical turbine pumps, and related equipment. They troubleshoot three-phase electrical systems, motor controls, and power distribution associated with industrial pumping applications. They exhibit excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and sound technical judgment under pressure. They communicate professionally with customers by explaining equipment failures, repair recommendations, and preventive maintenance solutions. They maintain detailed service reports, documentation, and accurate records using mobile devices and service management software. They manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong customer-focused attitude and commitment to safety. They possess working knowledge of computers, wireless communication devices, and diagnostic software. They are able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and 100 lbs. with assistance. They hold a High School Diploma or GED; technical school, electrical, HVAC, industrial maintenance, or controls training is preferred. They have previous field service experience with industrial pumps, control systems, VFDs, water/wastewater equipment, HVAC hydronic systems, or rotating equipment (preferred). They successfully pass background and reference checks, as well as a pre-employment drug screening. They maintain an active, REAL ID-compliant driver's license with a clean driving record, or possess a valid U.S. passport as required for access to federal facilities.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform expert field service and repair on pumps and air compressors.
  • Follow OSHA Safety requirements at all times
  • Perform new & repaired equipment start-up commissioning and training.
  • Properly and accurately complete service-related documentation, and utilize electronic communication & documentation devices where applicable (i.e. Wireless tablets).
  • Effectively communicate with customers and coworkers alike.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and resourceful work environment to include the shop, work area, and service vehicle.
  • Consistently provide courteous and professional representation of Cummins-Wagner employees and products.
  • Required to be on call and able to travel for out-of-town jobs. Some jobs do require an overnight stay, and mandatory training classes may also require this individual to be out of town for one-week periods
  • Serve as a mentor and assist with the training of new field service technicians
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
