About The Position

The Field Service Technician will interface with relevant departments to gain a thorough understanding of NOV products and their operation, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting. This role involves traveling to customer sites to perform inspections, installations, commissioning, testing, calibration, repairs, and customer training on NOV products. The technician will also perform field upgrades of software and hardware, communicate field failures and feedback, and complete service documentation. Additionally, the technician will provide technical support for new product trials and ongoing customer service needs, diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform repairs, and conduct operational testing. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a clean and organized work environment and adhering to all quality assurance procedures, work instructions, and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with one or more of the following product lines: Wireline WPCE, Flowline, and Surface Safety Valves is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of offshore field service experience required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, assembly drawings, procedures, and basic electrical drawings required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, including offshore locations, to support NOV and customer service operations for WFL product lines.
  • Willingness to work in harsh environments including rain, snow, heat, and heights.
  • Must be able to pass offshore safety classes including but not limited to offshore water survival (HUET), firefighting, and basic offshore safety induction emergency training (BOSIET).
  • Must be able to obtain a transportation workers identification credential (TWIC) card.
  • Ability to travel more than 25% of the time.
  • Availability to work a standard Monday–Friday schedule, with flexibility for overtime and on-call assignments as needed.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and the ability to safely operate company vehicles.
  • Must possess a valid passport or have the ability to obtain one.
  • Must obtain and maintain an active NOV corporate credit card in accordance with company policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of rig and completion well site operations preferred.
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems experience preferred.
  • Experience operating test pumps, testing equipment, cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with relevant departments to obtain a thorough understanding of NOV products and how they are safely operated, tested, calibrated and problems are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair and train customers on the safe and proper operation of NOV products.
  • Perform field upgrades of software and hardware and train customers on how to properly operate the system.
  • Communicate field failures and feedback reports to the appropriate departments.
  • Complete and submit field service documentation in a timely manner.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Travel to customer sites and work within NOV Service Facilities to install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair NOV WFL products and related customer-owned equipment.
  • Provide technical field support for new product trials and ongoing customer service needs.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions using observations, testing, schematics, and assembly drawings to determine root causes and complete repairs.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, replace, align, and reassemble components while ensuring all work is completed accurately and without damage to equipment or surfaces.
  • Request and install required replacement or fabricated parts in accordance with specifications, instructions, and engineering drawings.
  • Perform operational testing on repaired equipment to verify performance meets required specifications.
  • Inspect components for corrosion, wear, defects, and breakage during troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Complete and submit required service reports, supporting documentation, and field failure feedback in a timely manner according to NOV WFL procedures.
  • Follow all quality assurance procedures, departmental work instructions, and safety standards while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Actively participate in training and perform additional duties as assigned by Service Management.
  • Participate in and support 5S initiatives focused on reducing non-productive time (NPT) and improving service efficiency.
