We currently have a field and workshop Service Technician position to fill. The Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the mechanical and/or electrical aspects of underground mining equipment and components, in accordance with defined specifications. The incumbent is also responsible for commissioning new equipment and training at customer sites. Requirements

  • Diploma or certificate in a relevant field (mechanical/electrical) or equivalent experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Five (5) years of related experience with underground mining equipment.
  • Ability to work in French.
  • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical problems on mining equipment.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft software.
  • Valid driver's license required and willingness to travel to mine sites and across Canada, as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to work varied hours, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning and determine defects and failures.
  • Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective components or systems as needed to return equipment to original manufacturing specifications.
  • Verify proper functioning of repaired equipment.
  • Commission new equipment.
  • Accurately complete time sheets, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, customers, products, and technical best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with safety policies and relevant government, customer, or industry regulations or requirements.
  • Responsible for identifying and reporting any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents, and/or near misses.
  • Perform a 'Take 5' risk assessment before each task.
  • Maintain hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintain an orderly workplace and ensure rule compliance.
  • Participate in environmental, health, and safety training.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for each task.
