About The Position

ORR Protection is hiring an apprentice Field Service Technician to perform fire alarm and fire protection system inspection, testing, installation, and commissioning work. Apprentices participate in a formal training program that combines hands-on instruction with field experience and work under the supervision of an experienced technician. The role serves customers at local job sites, with the associate deployed from home, and includes overnight travel up to 25% of the time.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic computer literacy.
Basic mechanical and electrical ability.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Self-directed, with the ability to work autonomously.
Demonstrated customer service mindset.
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and crawl into tight or awkward places.
Ability to travel overnight up to 25% of the time.
Occasional on-call days and/or overtime for unscheduled service needs.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or certification in low-voltage electricity or a related field.
Military fire protection experience.

Responsibilities

Perform routine inspection and testing tasks according to OPS work instructions.
Test and clean smoke detectors.
Test manual pull stations and other initiating devices.
Test other system inputs and outputs.
Test and verify audiovisual components.
Inspect and measure the weight of agent storage containers.
Record inspection and test results in the company’s electronic inspection program.
Assist with installation and commissioning tasks under supervision.
Carry out the company mission to protect people, property, and the environment in all aspects of the job.
Perform other duties as assigned.
