About The Position

RECO Equipment, Inc. is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Field Service Technicians. This role offers steady work, a clear career path, and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of heavy and compact equipment. The Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment at customer job sites and branch locations. This role requires strong mechanical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently while delivering excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience in heavy equipment repair.
  • Expertise in diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a DOT physical.
  • Strong troubleshooting and professional communication skills.
  • Experience using diagnostic software, laptops, and electronic service tools.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and stay current with new equipment, systems, and technologies.
  • Basic computer skills for time entry, service documentation, communication, and parts lookup.
  • Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • Ability to meet company and General Liability driving requirements.
  • Must maintain a safe driving record.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull parts and components weighing approximately 10–75 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access all areas of equipment.
  • Must supply and maintain personal tools required to perform the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment, laptops, and manufacturer software (training provided as needed).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment at customer job sites and branch locations.
  • Delivering excellent customer service.
  • Working independently.
  • Traveling as needed for service calls and training.
  • Performing work at customer job sites, branch facilities, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Handling regular exposure to heavy machinery, noise, grease, and moving equipment.
  • Operating forklifts.
