About The Position

Datamax is seeking a skilled Copier / Multifunction Printer (MFP) Field Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair office equipment, including multifunction copiers, printers, scanners, and document management devices. This role combines electromechanical repair expertise, network connectivity troubleshooting, and customer-focused service to ensure maximum equipment uptime and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate has experience working with office technology and possesses a strong foundation in basic networking, printing environments, Windows operating systems and strives to achieve high first-call resolution rates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic networking knowledge, including: TCP/IP, DHCP and Static IP Addressing, DNS and Gateway Configuration, Network Printing, SMB and SMTP, Connectivity Testing and Ping Utilities
  • Experience with Windows 10/11 environments
  • Ability to read service manuals, diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Professional appearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Canon, Ricoh, Sharp, Kyocera, Konica Minolta, HP, Xerox, Lexmark, or Toshiba devices.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent technical certifications.
  • Experience with Managed Print Services (MPS).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Windows Server environments.
  • Prior field service or technical support experience.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnosis and repair multifunction copiers, printers, scanners, image quality issues, print defects, feeding problems, and hardware failures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and equipment inspections.
  • Install replacement parts, perform calibrations, update firmware, and complete system configurations.
  • Analyze service history, error codes, and customer-reported symptoms to identify root causes.
  • Install and configure network-connected printers and multifunction devices.
  • Configure print drivers, scan-to-email, scan-to-folder, and network printing solutions.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, static IP addressing, SMB, SMTP, and Windows print environments.
  • Support Microsoft 365 authentication concepts and basic Active Directory environments.
  • Collaborate effectively with customer IT teams to resolve printing and scanning issues. Verify printing, scanning, copying, faxing, and documentation functions after installation or service.
  • Deliver exceptional customer support and technical guidance by building strong customer relationships through professionalism and reliability.
  • Communicate service status, expected completion times, and recommended solutions.
  • Train end users on basic device operation and functionality.
  • Accurately document service calls, repairs performed, parts used, and resolution details.
  • Maintain vehicle inventory and car stock levels.
  • Manage service schedules efficiently and minimize repeat visits.
  • Follow company procedures for parts returns, warranty claims, and service reporting.
