About The Position

Motorola Solutions is a world leader in professional mobile communications systems, specializing in mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers. This role involves the optimization and support of complex communication systems, including troubleshooting software-driven electronics, provisioning infrastructure, and optimizing RF and Broadband architecture. The position requires maintaining, optimizing, testing, and documenting these systems, as well as performing hardware/software maintenance and preventative routines. The technician will develop solutions to technical problems, undergo continuous training, and collaborate with various internal teams and external customers to ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Very strong knowledge of wired communications systems (LAN and WAN).
  • Proficiency in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance (cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, bridges).
  • Knowledge of R.F. systems (transmitters, receivers, antenna networks).
  • Knowledge in standard telephony and dedicated data circuits.
  • Knowledge of packet switching techniques.
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Strong self-management skills.
  • Strong 'people' skills to work with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Self-motivated and self-managed to perform duties with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.
  • High School Diploma/GED OR 5+ years of Field Service experience with one or more of the following: LMR, IT, Radio, RF Systems, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment, Military experience or Public Safety experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Able to obtain background clearance as required by US government customer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ASTRO P25 systems.
  • Unique combinations of both multi-site RF communications systems and/or computer/networking skills are preferred.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: LMR, RF systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communication systems or networking equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Optimization and support of complex communication systems.
  • Technical support of specialized systems and product applications.
  • Troubleshooting of software-driven electronics.
  • Provisioning of communication system infrastructure.
  • Performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture (legacy analog, P25, data infrastructure).
  • Maintenance, optimization, testing, and documentation of complex communications systems.
  • Providing weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
  • Maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
  • Performing preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation.
  • Trend analysis and documentation of results.
  • Developing solutions to difficult technical problems.
  • Continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Teaming with engineering, project management, and sales personnel to maintain, optimize, and support advanced communication systems.
