About The Position

This position prioritizes safety while providing excellent member service by obtaining and verifying meter data; conducting service point inspections; monitoring idle services and outdoor lights within the assigned territory; and performing all work in accordance with established schedules, safety standards, and procedures. The role involves obtaining usage data using the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system or field collection, connecting, disconnecting, installing, replacing, and verifying electric meters. The technician will maintain courteous and effective communication with members, investigate and resolve member high bill concerns, and participate in required training. Additionally, the role includes conducting routine inspections of meter services, service points, and associated equipment to identify damaged, unsafe, or non-compliant conditions, documenting findings, communicating required repairs, and maintaining accurate account notes. The technician will also monitor assigned idle services, outdoor lighting accounts, and other field assets, documenting findings and reporting discrepancies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Reliable transportation to report to work and travel between locations as needed.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license required.
  • Must meet the requirements of pre-employment drug screening and comply with company drug and alcohol policy while employed.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer/Member service experience with an electric utility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain usage data in a timely manner using the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system or through field collection when necessary.

  • Document inspection findings using current platform; communicate required repairs to members; maintain accurate account notes and notify the supervisor of conditions requiring follow up.
  • Monitor assigned idle services, outdoor lighting accounts, and other field assets, documenting findings and reporting discrepancies as appropriate.
