About The Position

Quality Data Systems (QDS) is seeking a Field Service Technician to join their team. This role involves traveling within a 100-mile radius of the technician's home base, Monday through Friday, to install, maintain, and repair cash automation equipment such as counters, recyclers, and ATMs. The technician will build relationships with clients, deliver exceptional service, and uphold QDS's high standards. The position requires the individual to live within 30 miles of Richmond, VA, in approved locations like Richmond, Ashland, Powhatan, or Chester. Field Service Technicians also participate in a rotating schedule of evening and weekend on-call assignments to provide timely support outside of standard business hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 1+ years of experience as a field service technician preferred
  • People person! Friendly and sociable with great relationship building skills – ability to create an instant rapport with customers.
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Clean and neat appearance
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to prioritize travel schedule and manage time effectively
  • Must pass background check and drug test
  • Frequent driving (up to 6–8 hours/day)
  • Working with hands
  • Physical activity including standing, sitting, bending, and twisting
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Stretching and reaching overhead
  • Lifting objects weighing up to 50-75 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or backgrounds in installation or repair of cash automation equipment, office equipment, POS systems, security equipment, and electrical or HVAC backgrounds.
  • Associate degree preferred
  • NCR Certification /OEM ATM/ITM certification a plus (Hyosung, NCR, Diebold, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Bring live and troubleshoot ATMs, ITMs, TCRs, Currency Discriminators, and Coin machines
  • Upgrade software and hardware
  • Diagnose system complications and perform repairs
  • Perform preventative maintenance
  • Communicate effectively with QDS team members and customers
