FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN
About The Position
Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) is seeking a Field Service Technician / Mechanic with experience in truck-mounted hydraulics, electrical wiring, and diesel equipment. This role involves performing inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on CTOS and Custom equipment, primarily at customer sites. The company provides a service truck, phone, computer, diagnostic tools, and strong benefits. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, skilled in hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, comfortable with customer interaction and field work, and enjoys a dynamic work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of related experience (field or shop tech)
- Valid driver’s license (CDL Class B preferred)
- Must provide your own mechanic tools
- Proficiency using documentation software and managing time effectively
- Background in truck mounted hydraulics, electrical wiring, diesel equipment
- Mechanical skills
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship
Nice To Haves
- Electrical, hydraulics, welding, and schematic/blueprint reading
- Diagnostic software experience (QuickServe, DTNA, etc.)
- DOT, ANSI, and dielectric testing experience
- CDL Class B
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain bucket trucks / aerial devices, digger derricks, truck-mounted cranes (LMI & CAN-bus systems), hydraulic utility equipment & major components, and heavy- and light-duty truck chassis, diesel, and electrical systems.
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and on-site diagnostics.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and repair orders.
- Use laptops and diagnostic software to identify issues.
- Complete documentation accurately (repair orders, timecards, inspection forms).
- Communicate with customers and CTOS teams to minimize downtime.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing CTOS and manufacturer training.
- Travel within and occasionally beyond the assigned territory.
