About The Position

Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) is seeking a Field Service Technician / Mechanic with experience in truck-mounted hydraulics, electrical wiring, and diesel equipment. This role involves performing inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on CTOS and Custom equipment, primarily at customer sites. The company provides a service truck, phone, computer, diagnostic tools, and strong benefits. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, skilled in hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, comfortable with customer interaction and field work, and enjoys a dynamic work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of related experience (field or shop tech)
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL Class B preferred)
  • Must provide your own mechanic tools
  • Proficiency using documentation software and managing time effectively
  • Background in truck mounted hydraulics, electrical wiring, diesel equipment
  • Mechanical skills
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical, hydraulics, welding, and schematic/blueprint reading
  • Diagnostic software experience (QuickServe, DTNA, etc.)
  • DOT, ANSI, and dielectric testing experience
  • CDL Class B

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain bucket trucks / aerial devices, digger derricks, truck-mounted cranes (LMI & CAN-bus systems), hydraulic utility equipment & major components, and heavy- and light-duty truck chassis, diesel, and electrical systems.
  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and on-site diagnostics.
  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and repair orders.
  • Use laptops and diagnostic software to identify issues.
  • Complete documentation accurately (repair orders, timecards, inspection forms).
  • Communicate with customers and CTOS teams to minimize downtime.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing CTOS and manufacturer training.
  • Travel within and occasionally beyond the assigned territory.
