About The Position

SAIC is looking for a Field Service Technician to support the AC-130 gunship located at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. This role involves interfacing with the customer to handle service inquiries and problems, including performing customer support activities related to the installation, modification, and repair of complex equipment and systems. The technician will conduct on-site installation and testing of equipment, isolate and correct equipment start-up malfunctions, and may make technical presentations. Additionally, the role includes training customer personnel in equipment operation and maintenance, providing technical support for 30mm and 105mm weapons systems at Cannon AFB, and acting as a liaison between the squadron and the Naval Surface Warfare Center for technical issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of preventative and corrective aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Experience as an Air Force Mechanic with a focus on engine maintenance and production processes.
  • Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Public speaking skills and the ability to deliver presentations to groups.
  • Experience with maintenance data collection systems.
  • Motivation and ability to research directives, regulations and policies to determine solutions to problems, issues and concerns.
  • Commitment to customer service and proactive in implementing policy as well as identifying and solving problems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to learn company software.
  • Dexterity in fingers in both hands.
  • Ability to pick up and carry 70 lbs. for a distance of 50 feet.
  • Able to withstand exposure to temperature extremes in performance of duties.

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with the customer to handle service inquiries and problems.

  • Provides technical support for the 30mm and 105mm weapons systems in the areas of field service, troubleshooting, maintenance, and training support to the Air Force squadron at Cannon AFB.
  • Provides on-site technical support for weapons and associated equipment used by the squadron.
  • Acts as the liaison between the squadron and the Small Arms Branch at Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, IN for any technical issues related to the 30mm and 105mm weapons systems.
