About The Position

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Technician in Nevada, with three open roles available in Elko, NV (Nevada Gold Mine), and the Winnemucca/Battle Mountain area. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong mechanical or electrical background and excellent diagnostic skills. Sandvik Mining, a global leader in mining equipment and services, offers this opportunity to work on rock drilling, cutting, crushing, loading, hauling, and materials handling equipment. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical aspects of underground mining equipment and components at high-profile mining sites. This includes new equipment commissioning and training customers with minimal supervision, primarily covering the Nevada/Utah market. The role involves working both underground and on the surface, requiring comfort with these conditions. A company vehicle is provided due to minimal travel requirements. Two roles will be assigned to other mine sites, and one to Nevada Gold Mine.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience or education in Mechanical and/or Electrical troubleshooting on medium/high voltage equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems on heavy equipment.
  • Capability to interpret diagnostics from advanced onboard systems to pinpoint faults.
  • Understanding of and conforming to ISO standards.
  • Driver's license and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or diploma in mechanical or electrical fields or a minimum of 7 years industry-related experience.
  • Experience working on mining equipment.
  • Team player with excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to maintain strong customer relations with internal and external customers.
  • Flexible and self-motivated, with a drive to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Safety champion capable of working alone and stopping work, if required.
  • Familiar with MSHA standards.

  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret equipment schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and/or electrical aspects of underground mining equipment and components at high profile mining sites.
  • Perform new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites with minimal supervision.
  • Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts, components, or systems according to scopes of work.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
  • Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry, customer, product developments, and technical best practices.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current and in compliance with all Sandvik, Customer, State, and Federal regulatory safety policies.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction within the area of primary responsibility.
