About The Position

Otovo is looking for an experienced and dependable Field Service Technician to join our growing renewable energy operations team in the Southbay Area. In this role, you’ll diagnose, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential solar energy systems, battery storage systems, and backup generators while delivering an exceptional customer experience. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of electrical experience
  • State-required electrical certification/license (Journeyman, Wireman, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of: NEC codes, AHJ regulations, Utility interconnection standards
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic tools
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work on rooftops
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to travel locally and work overtime when needed

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school or technical training preferred
  • Solar PV, battery storage, or generator experience strongly preferred
  • Generac training or certification
  • NABCEP certification
  • Prior experience in the solar industry

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair: Solar PV systems, Inverters, Battery storage systems, Backup generators, Related electrical components
  • Perform preventative maintenance including: Panel cleaning, Wiring inspections, Inverter performance checks, Battery health diagnostics
  • Commission new systems and system upgrades
  • Ensure all work complies with: NEC standards, AHJ requirements, Utility interconnection regulations
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment including: Multimeters, Clamp meters, Thermal imaging tools
  • Maintain accurate: Service documentation, Inspection reports, Photo documentation
  • Follow all company safety procedures including: PPE requirements, Lockout/tagout procedures, Fall protection standards
  • Respond to emergency service and warranty repair calls as needed
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and provide clear service updates
